This challenge is found at technology in the classroom. In response to challenge nr. 5 – for the topic ‘Blogging safely in the big wide world’ I will try to answer the following questions:
- Why did you choose the blogging platform you are using?
- What have you found most easy or difficult in blogging with students?
- What have you done to make sure your students are blogging safely?
- What do you think students get out of blogging?
- How do you find ways for students to get their global audience?
- What recommendations would you give to new teachers to blogging?
- No doubt WordPress is a great platform for blogging. I really like the way it is set up. But for my students I introduce blogger.com and they all find it really easy to use.
- Everything is easy! Once you introduce it to the students they just go for it! All my students‘ blogs are listed to the right on my blog. Please take a look!
- I list the blogs in google rss reader and always look at new entries If I find pictures or text that is inappropriate I ask them to delete it! And they do!
- I think you should read my students‘ answer to the Student challenge. Most of them have written about blogging and their responses are honest and interesting. As with all new structures and technology it does not appeal to all students.
- I try to connect with teachers and ask them to comment! And they do! I have had responses from Australia, the USA and Brazil. Thanks to those who take the time!
- Just do it! Look at other blogs and go for it! But remember to visit their blogs at a regular basis and always submit comments! If you do it is great fun!
