Microsoft Copilot: The AI Chatbot for Productivity and Creativity is Now Generally Available

Microsoft has announced the general availability of its AI-based chatbot, Microsoft Copilot, formerly known as Bing Chat1. The chatbot, which was launched as a public preview in early February, has undergone several improvements and feature additions1.

In November, Microsoft announced that Bing Chat and Bing Chat Enterprise would be rebranded as Copilot, aligning with the naming convention of Microsoft’s other generative AI services1. As of December 1, 2023, Copilot has officially left the public preview stage1.

With Copilot now generally available, organizations and users can confidently adopt it as part of their daily workflows1. Copilot, now backed by the Universal Commercial License Terms for Online Services, aligns with other Microsoft commercial online services1. These terms include Microsoft’s Customer Copyright Commitment (CCC), which allows customers to use Microsoft’s Copilot services without worrying about copyright claims1.

Copilot is now available with commercial data protection at no additional cost for people and businesses subscribed to Microsoft 365 commercial and educational plans1. Microsoft plans to extend Copilot with commercial data protection to most of its Entra ID users in the future1.

Businesses that have been using Copilot during the public preview stage don’t need to do anything else now that it is generally available1. Companies that don’t use products labeled as being in a preview state can check out the official documentation on the chatbot1. Users who want more info before using Copilot can also check out Microsoft’s adoption kit1.

Microsoft Copilot is now available for free at copilot.microsoft.com2.
