Vocabulary.com is an excellent vocabulary study service offering thousands of vocabulary practice lists and activities for students in elementary school through graduate school. Source: Free technology for teachers. 

When you start you register here and then set up your class. Ask for a link to share with your class and have them all sign-up. You can start the class off by creating an assignment by choosing a particular topic. I choose Climate change. We can use this before we start writing a blog post about climate change. A useful practice before we start working on a topic. The screen looks like this:
