The blogging competition!

Motivating student writers

The winner blog

We use blogging as a way to encourage our students to write more. And when asked how long they have blogged, my students answered, since day one of English at school. To motivate, we have used revolvermaps to see where our visitors are from. And we look at our site stats to see how many! At the end of the year we were nominating winners in the following categories:

  1. Best content
  2. Best layout
  3. Most hits (visitors)
  4. Most hits in one day
  5. Most comments

After nominating in class we ended up with the following document that we shared in Office 365. That document was then shared with senior students who did the final voting for the 2 first categories. And the winners are:

  1. Best content Ruben with Mohammed as a good number 2
  2. Best layout Ruben
  3. Most hits (visitors) Emilia
  4. Most hits in one day  Emilia
  5. Most comments  William

Ann Rooney shared Will Richardson’s post “Writing Every Day”.  Welcome to 750 words. It’s about learning a new habit: Writing. Every. Day. What if we could get our students to do just that? Blogging is a good way to start for sure!
