Why the web isn’t providing the information we need!

To most people the internet is a connection to the world. We need it to introduce us to new ideas.  It should be a great source for democracy in our society.  But this is not always the case. There is a shift in how information is flowing on the web.  As web companies strive to tailor their services (including news and search results) to our personal tastes, there’s a dangerous unintended consequence: We get trapped in a “filter bubble” and don’t get exposed to information that could challenge or broaden our worldview. Eli Pariser argues powerfully that this will ultimately prove to be bad for us and bad for democracy.

  1. Interesting article thanks for sharing. Yes the filter bubble does appear to be a serious problem that needs addressing and am glad Eli Pariser is doing so with his book.
